Facebook authorities are planning to change the 17-year-old name.
According to a report by US media Verge, every year Facebook holds a conference called ‘Connect’ with their employees. This year’s conference is scheduled for October 28. Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg is expected to discuss the name change at the conference. However, the new name may be known before that.
Some say that the new name of this social media will be ‘FB’. Also at different times, various names like Facebook, Facebook, Bookface have been heard.
According to The Verge, Facebook’s name could be ‘Horizon’. Facebook is already working on creating a virtual reality platform. Samidh Chakraborty, Integrity Chief of Facebook, said that the new name of Facebook could be ‘Meta’.
The idea is that the new name of Facebook may be Metaverse. The name Metaverse means a virtual world. Where you can connect with the world through the Internet. This world is a digital combination with reality. Users will feel more alive in this world as they develop through virtual reality or augmented reality.
Basically, the initiative to change the name of Facebook is to restructure themselves.
According to The Verge, the move is aimed at forming a so-called Metaverse company on Facebook.
Facebook has invested heavily in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Its goal is to connect around 300 million users through various devices and apps.
Mark Zuckerberg has been talking about Metaverse since last July. He said that the future of Facebook is hidden in the concept of Metaverse.
